Faith Bible Church is now meeting at Lehua Elementary School, 791 Lehua Avenue, Pearl City. The Sunday morning service begins at 9:30. All are welcome!

Missionaries at Maili

Aloha to the FBC Family!

This Sunday we are planning to go to Maili Bible Church on the Waianae Coast to enjoy fellowship with brothers and sisters there, and with the Bob Ensminger family, missionaries in Fiji that both churches support financially and with our prayers.

Location: The address is 87-138 Gilipake St., Waianae, HI. Turning off of Farrington Highway in Maili, it is the second street on the Mauka side past St. John's Road (traffic light).

Times: (We are allowing 45 minutes to get there from our house (about 21 miles). Of course, it all depends on the traffic - especially along the Waianae Coast.)

9:30AM - Sunday School - Bob Ensminger speaking (reporting about the work in Fiji?)

10:30AM - Morning Service

12:00PM (after service) Baptismal service at nearby beach

by 1:00PM - Pot Blessing Dinner begins

Giving: If you want to give toward a love offering for the Ensmingers, and don't care about a tax deduction, you can give through Maili's offering and designate it for them. Or you can prepare a cash envelope or check written to Faith Bible Church (designate your wishes on a separate paper or envelope, if you want it to be tax deductible), and give it to Janice or me. If you want to give to the church's general fund, you can give it to me Sunday, as just described, or wait until next Sunday to give it.

Food: Since there will be a fellowship meal, please bring a favorite dish or two to share with everyone. Like our church, they have a lot of good food. I think you'll find plenty to enjoy.

I'm really looking forward to our fellowship with these brothers and sisters. Like you, they are dear folks whom we love. I think you will enjoy them, too.

If you have any questions or need a ride, please email or call. I know that Wally needs a ride and Phil Coss has asked to go, so we will be stopping by his place in Kapolei on our way.

PS - Jonathan texted this morning to let us know he and his fellow-worker, John, arrived safely in Kunming, China. They are 6 time zones from Hawaii and 12 from Eastern.

Church meeting places over the summer (revised)

Faith Bible Church is currently meeting at Lehua Elementary in Pearl City, and will be meeting there until the end of May. However, Lehua is undergoing renovations over the summer, causing us to have to find a new temporary meeting place. Please pray for the Lord's leading in this area. Currently, the plan is that on June 6 and 13 the church will meet at the Buttram's house at 2133 Hoohai Street. There is no confirmed place to meet after those dates, so please keep that in your prayers. If you have any suggestions of a possible meeting place, feel free to contact us at the email or phone number below.

Foster Point

This Sunday, November 22, we are meeting at Foster Point pavilion for a special Thanksgiving service!

Here’s what to bring:

1. Food for potluck lunch after church

2. Lawn chairs

3. Lawn and/or table games for fellowship

Enter HAFB Main gate and continue on O'Malley Blvd

Proceed around the traffic circle (Alterbury Circle)

Exit right on Vickers Ave (3/4 of the circle)

Vickers Ave will curve left (water on your right)

Continue straight until you come to a fork in the road

Bear right onto Beach Road

Follow Beach Road until you arrive at Hickam Harbor on your right

Fosters Point is on your right, just before the Seabreeze Restaurant

New Meeting Place at Lehua Elementary School

Aloha,

It has been a long time since the last posting on this blog. Sorry for not keeping up to date with things that are happening with the church. We will try to post updates more regularly and keep you posted with things that are happening in the church.

There is now a new meeting place that we will be meeting at starting this coming Sunday. We will be meeting at Lehua Elementary School in the cafeteria. The morning service will start at 9:00 am. The school is located at 791 Lehua Ave in Pearl City.

We are meeting at the Buttram's house on Sunday night at 6:00 pm for the evening service and at 7:00 pm for the Wednesday prayer service. The Buttram's house is located at 2133 Hoohai St in upper Pearl City.

Dragged into it... but glad.

This is the first time I have ever done a blog. I am sitting here because my son, Caleb, the main techie in our family (at least with PC's) set up this blog for Faith Bible Church and repeatedly said, "Dad, you have to put something on the church's blog. When are you going to do it?" So I am writing this, not because I long to publish something on the web but because Caleb has pushed his foot-dragging dad into it. Thanks, Caleb! (If it flops, it's his fault, not mine.)

But I also recognize that we must get the word out that there is - in Pearl City, Hawaii - a small fellowship of believers devoted to God, committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and convinced of its power to deliver us from Hell and fit us for Heaven.

God is at work among us. He is producing in us the fruit of the Spirit because He has given us His Spirit to live in us. The Holy Spirit has given us gifts to use in serving one another. By the Spirit we have His inerrant, infallible Word - the Bible. By Scripture He is making us more like His precious Son. Yes, we work at obeying the truth we've come to understand. But we can work it out only because He is working in us.

Hence the blog's title, "Perceptions of Grace". God is working. My hope is that we are actually seeing His grace evidenced in one another's lives. So it's my goal to follow a bit of C.J. Mahaney's advice to pastors and look into the lists of the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit and then look up and see the evidence of His working in the lives of brothers and sisters in this fellowship.
